US Announces Easier Visa Appointments for 2026 World Cup Fans. The United States has introduced a fast-track visa appointment system for foreign fans attending the FIFA World Cup 2026, aiming to provide a smoother experience for millions of visitors expected next summer. However, US officials have emphasized that priority appointments do not guarantee entry into the country.

Special Priority Visa System for Ticket Holders

President Donald Trump announced the new initiative at the White House, joined by FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The priority system will allow individuals holding valid match tickets to schedule faster visa-interview appointments ahead of the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across 11 US cities. Mexico and Canada will also co-host matches.

“For those who intend to join us for the World Cup, I strongly encourage you to apply right away,” Trump said, noting that agencies worked together to ensure global fans are “properly vetted and able to come to the US next summer easily.”

What the Priority Visa System Means

The new setup—informally called the “FIFA Pass”—will allow ticket holders to secure prioritized interview dates, reducing long waiting times in many countries.

Infantino called the move a “very important announcement,” saying it will help legitimate football fans travel in better conditions. FIFA expects 5 to 10 million visitors to the US for the event.

Over one million tickets have already been sold to fans from 212 countries, FIFA confirmed. More details about the appointment system will be shared with ticket holders in early 2026.

Visa Processing Boost and Key Warnings

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the State Department has added 400 consular officers worldwide, doubling staff in several regions to handle the surge in applications. He noted that fans will receive interview appointments within six to eight weeks under the new plan.

However, Rubio reminded fans that a match ticket alone does not grant entry:
“Your ticket is not a visa. It doesn’t guarantee admission to the US. It guarantees you an expedited appointment, but you will still go through the normal vetting process.”

Both Trump and Rubio urged fans not to delay their visa applications.

World Cup Amid Political Tensions

Trump has positioned the World Cup as a flagship event during his second term and as part of preparations for the 250th anniversary of US independence.

Despite the enthusiasm, the tournament has not escaped political debate. Trump has suggested the possibility of relocating matches from certain host cities over concerns related to crime and migration in Democratic-led areas.

Conclusion

The UAE unsponsored visit visas provide flexible entry options for travellers, professionals, and jobseekers exploring new opportunities. With simple application procedures, clear eligibility rules, and convenient services like du Quick Pay for managing telecom needs, visitors can enjoy a seamless and hassle-free travel experience across the Emirates.
