Govt Vehicles to Receive E-Challans for Traffic Violations. The Sindh government has taken a major step toward improving road discipline by authorizing traffic authorities in Karachi to issue e-challans to official government vehicles. This decision ensures that government drivers are held accountable for traffic violations just like ordinary motorists.
Sindh Govt Approves E-Challan System for Official Vehicles
A formal notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department confirms that all government vehicles caught violating traffic rules will now receive electronic challans.
The directive, signed by Section Officer CT Aqeel Hussain Mako, states that the responsible officer or government employee must pay the fine personally. This enforcement is backed by Section 116A of the Traffic Ordinance 1956.
Provincial Departments Informed
Copies of the notification have been sent to several key offices across Sindh, including:
- Senior Member, Board of Revenue
- Chairman, Anti-Corruption Establishment
- Chairman, Planning & Development
- Chairman, Chief Minister Inspection Team
- Chairman, Sindh Public Service Commission

The order has also been circulated among all departmental secretaries and divisional commissioners for immediate implementation.
Traffic Violations Covered Under the E-Challan System
Under the new rules, government vehicles may receive e-challans for common traffic offences, such as:
- Driving without a seatbelt
- Using tinted windows
- Running red traffic signals
- Using a mobile phone while driving
These steps are aimed at strengthening road safety and reducing reckless driving across Karachi.
Conclusion
The introduction of e-challans for government vehicles marks a significant move toward equal enforcement of traffic laws. By holding public officials personally responsible for fines, the Sindh government aims to set a strong example and promote safer driving habits across the province.
